The European Commission has presented a new "Start-up and Scale-up Strategy" to strengthen Europe's role as a center of innovation. It focuses on measures to support startups and growing companies in the development and commercialization of new technologies.
The planned promotion of partnerships between research institutes, universities, and startups is particularly relevant for Austria. They are intended to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from science to industry. The strategy also envisages the removal of regulatory hurdles and the creation of innovative test environments ("sandboxes") where new solutions can be tested under real-world conditions.
With these initiatives, the EU will accelerate the commercialization of innovative ideas. This opens up new opportunities for members to deepen collaboration between research and industry and better utilize their respective countries' innovation potential.
